waking up

Scarlett woke early the next morning. She looked at Kanji's den to see he was still sleeping. Padding ontop of a rock she sat on her haunches as the sun began to rise. Smiling to herself, she began to groom her legs and sides.
Looking up occasionally to see if any thing was around. She knew she had to make her desicion on an alpha soon, but she had her dbouts. He was too soft to be hard on wolves, he was handsome, and was nice, but he was not too much like Scarlett.

Kanji woke up and yawned.
He stood up and walked
over to her."Hello."Kanji
said as he sat down.His t
ail swished on the ground.
Would she let him be Alpha?

She looked up as Kenji approached and smiled. "'Morning." She said. She looked at the sun, it was rising higher in the sky.
Her white coat was spotless after she groomed it. Looking at Kanji she sighed, "Kanji, you'll be alpha... for now," She said happily. "But you need to tuffen up!" Adding a nuzzle to the last part she smiled.

k and forth fast.He was so happy a
nd he nuzzled Scarlett."Thank you!"
Kanji said.He bowed to her and then lifte
d his head back up.

Silver orbs sparkled as she looked at Kanji. "Hungry?" She asked, glancing towards an empty den where she kept a bit of meat. She stood up and stretched, then walked over to the den. Taking out a small deer she looked at Kanji and smiled. "Sorry its not fresh, we'll get more tonight." She said with a giggle.

Kanji nodded.He didn't have anything to eat
yesterday and he was sure hungry.His stomach
growled.He saw her take a small deer,as she wa
lked over to him."It's ok."Kanji said.His stomach
growled again and he let out a small laugh.

Scarlett smiled at him again and nodded. Swishing her white tail back and forth she sat on her haunches. "Dig in." She said. She looked around, then ripped a peice of meat from the deer. She ripped the meat and ate it, not too hungry, Scarlett did not eat much.

Kanji started to eat some of the deer.After he
was done,he sat down.He was now full."Do you
think there are going to be more wolves comei
ng?"Kanji asked.He only knew that he and Scarlet
were the only ones in the pack.Maybe more woul
d come.

Scarletts white tail beat lightly on the ground, looking at Kanji for a moment as he spoke. Then sighing and glancing away. "I don't know." She said. "I hope they do." She giggled and glanced back to him.
She stood up and looked around, wondering what she could do while they waited.

Stoned had been here for years. He was here when the new wolves, fleeing whatever it was they were running from made they're home. His mother and father had made him in these very lands. The crazed brute had never left the boundries marked by his family. Of course, he'd never remarked them, but still... Currently, he was counting the steps it took him to get from his usual sleeping place to the river. He'd already messed it up twice and had to restart. This time maybe he'd get it right. Suddenly, a new scent hit his nose.

"Hehehe. Scarlett has found a mate, has she?" Stoned whispered. He was standing just upwind of the dens, his tail parallel to the ground and his head low and kinda cocked to one side. His fur was sticking out at odd angles all over his body, giving him a sortof mangy appearance. "Yesssss...." he breathed in a completely different voice. "And he'ssss sssssofffft." The sound was so serpentine, it would send chills down one's spine. "Well, isn't that just lovely." Now, it was slightly feminine. Each sound emitted from the beta's vocal cords was a perfect imitation of the voices he heard within his head. One such voice was currently telling him to walk on his face.

Over the years, the crazed wolf had learned not to do what the voices said. They generally hurt. Slowly, deliberately, he placed one paw infront of the others and made his way to the Alphess and her newly chosen mate. If he remembered correctly, Scarlett had come into Shadow Packlands about a moon ago, laying claim to it and everything in it. Stoned didn't have any form of problem with that whatsoever. It had taken less than a week for the brute to fall into step just behind her. She was a good leader, and definetly wasn't too soft.

At exactly 76 steps he stopped and bowed low to the fae. "Good morning, my beautifully perfect queen." His ear twitched as he listened to the voices in his head. One was telling him to attack the new male. Another was saying to stay calm and relax. The snake sound was silent for the first time in ages. It was a relief. "Good morning, sire, though you seem to be entirely to gentleborn for that rank in these lands..." he glanced back at Scarlett but left it at that. Suddenly, a different voice came over him.

"How m-m-might I s-s-serve thee, M-m-majesty?" the stutter was one of the other voices in his head. He called the voice his reason. It usually told him NOT to do whatever stupid idiotic thing he was about to do. Stoned had noticed the kill was old and wanted to fix that. "Methinks we should hunt, my queen," back to his formal self. The wolf was being far from hateful. He was just crazy. He was stone cold fuck nuts. It's hard to be kind about this.

White ears pricked as she waited for Kanji's reply. Though he still did not speak. She glanced at him for a moment, he sure was soft and if he did not prove himself he would not be alpha. Scarlett wanted her pack feirce, one all the other packs would fear. Not all accepting and kind as the other ones around here. She stopped her tail from swishing and turned sharply at the sound of movement. To see a brute standing there, she did not know him, yet he seemed to know her.

"Good morning, my beautifully perfect queen."

She watched him carefully as he spoke, standing up with her ears flat. She glanced towards Kanji for a moment, then waited again. Wondering if he would say more. She liked how he greeted her, obviously knowing her rank in this land. She was not one to be pushed over.

"Good morning, sire, though you seem to be entirely to gentleborn for that rank in these lands..."

She knew by this statement he had known she was here for a while. And he knew Kanji was a softie. She sighed and glanced sideways at the alpha. Blinking as he gaze returned to the brute. She relaxed a little, maybe he was no threat. He seemed to know these lands.
"Who are you?" She demanded, taking her place infront of the brute.

He was strange, she realized that right off the bat. Right when he spoke she knew there was something different about this wolf. She cocked her head at his suggestion to go hunting.
"We'll do that after I know if I can trust you." She said, rolling her eyes though she knew he was trying to be kind.

Kanji nodded and he perked his ear when he heard a creepy voice."What the.."Kanji thought to himself.He turned his head to this wolf.He didn't trust this wolf yet.He was really creepy and Kanji stood next to his mate.

Stoned was mildly taken aback by the queen's harsh words. Unfortunately, it caused his devilish side to emerge. "Trusssst...?" he muttered. "Ssssssshe doesssssn't trusssst me?" he breathed. "Trussst isss easy to come by, misssss." His smile turned evil and his tail started doing this snake-like motion that wasn't really a wag, but creepy all the same. "My name is Sssstoned. I am the beta of thesssse landsssss. I have been for yearssss. I wasss here wwwhen the sssssicknessssss came. I ssssurvived while my packmatessss died.

"Unlike either of youuuu, I wassss born a loyal Sssssshadow Pack wolffffff." Suddenly he shivered uncontrolably and his entire persona changed back to the very formal, very politicaly correct wolf he had been before. "Ah...forgive my manners, dear Queen." His head dipped in yet another bow. "I have no control over which of the voices comes out. Some are...slightly more hateful than others," he shrugged. There was really nothing he could do about it. Those around him just had to accept it.

"As far as being loyal goes, Madam, I was born here. My loyalty lies with the current leader of Shadow Pack. Ancient law states that being is you, my queen, and therefor, I am trustworthy, but only for you." His head slowly came up, level with the alpha's but still beneath Scarlett's. His tail had long since stopped the serpantine motion and was parallel to the ground once more. If she knew anything about the workings of a wolf pack, she would know that Stoned was completely trustworthy and probably completely devoted to her by this point. It was his saving grace after being completely fucked up in the head.

She watched, a little scared though her outside did not show it. His tail started to go back and forth and his words were long, devil like. She stopped her tail swishing and listened, standing tall and watching him. Kanji did not say anything and she sighed and shook her head.

"Unlike either of youuuu, I wassss born a loyal Sssssshadow Pack wolffffff."

She shivered at the words, though under her long fur it was bearly noticeable. She knew he would be loyal when he spoke those words, and the ones to come, she smiled slightly, trying to keep an open mind. When he was done she nodded.
"Stoned.." She murmered to herself. "You will call me Scarlett," She said a little softer.

She looked at Kanji for a moment and opened her mouth to speak, but turned back to Stoned.
"Stoned, we'll go hunting now. Kanji, I'd like to talk to Stoned.. alone on the hunt." She said, with a nod as if she were agreeing to herself. She walked past Stoned, but stopped and smiled. "I'm sure you know where the Beta den is Stoned." She said with a grin, he was Beta. Waiting for him a ways off, many thoughts went through her head. About who was going to be alpha and other pack matters.
